GEOMATICS
CONSULTING
Since our inception, GDM has performed geodetic consulting and coordinate
conversion projects as a core part of our business. This is a highly specialized
field where our experience has proved extremely valuable to many operators
dealing with international coordinate systems, North American Datum (NAD)
issues, and the complexities of DLS grid systems.
In Canada, we performed almost all the conversions
from NAD27 to NAD83 for East Coast operators, providing all management
and contracting services to provide the clients with a new coordinate
environment without disrupting work flow. We have continued to be involved
with CAPP, provincial and federal governments and authorities in datum
use and the development of regulations. We also consult and contract on
issues around using and converting between different DLS township grid
systems in Western Canada.
We provide consulting and contracting services on
international coordinate and datum issues, and have performed projects
in all areas of the world. The issue of correctly understanding and referencing
coordinate data is of special importance in such ventures, and should
never be overlooked.

NAD83 CONVERSION SERVICES
GDM is taking a leading role in providing conversion services as a result of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers’ (CAPP’s) recommendation that by Q2 2008 all companies be NAD83 compliant for all data interchange with government and within industry.
Our experience in performing similar conversions for the East Coast operators has provided extensive experience on which to base our approach to this new, but very similar, task for the rest of Canadian data. As a result, we have formed a Consortium with IHS Energy to provide these conversion services to industry. The IHS-led Consortium brings together an established team of the most trusted and knowledgeable industry resources. It has unequalled technical capability and knowledge, operational capacity, proven conversion experience and project management capability.
